In 2019, the business pace was strong and profitable for the Washington State Convention Center. The positive year-end financials and the success at achieving our operating goals mark the close of nine years of operations as a public facilities district (PFD), a period over which we have produced consistently solid results.

The board of directors and staff can be commended for their extraordinary leadership and management of a PFD that is solely responsible for its own operations, debt service, capital improvements, and profitability.

Our board also provides its ongoing expertise and time to carefully lead the development of the Addition project, the WSCC Summit building, that broke ground in 2018 and is scheduled to be open for events in the spring of 2022.

The board continues to develop first-rate strategies to position us for a strong future. The public sets high expectations for our dual mission—to deliver both economic and civic benefits to our community—and we have succeeded on both fronts.
